ITIL® stands for Information Technology Infrastructure Library. It began as a library consisting of books that discussed specific IT service management best practices, based on recommendations from the CCTA, U.K.’s Government’s Central Communications and Telecommunications Agency. ITIL® is the most accepted framework for IT Service Management (ITSM) in the world.
ITIL® is not a stand-alone credential; it is a series of certifications comprising of 4 levels of certifications focusing on different aspects and degrees of depth. The certification levels are:
